Nova DuBois has spent her life among children’s books and elementary-aged children.
She began her love of young literature in her early teens when volunteering at her home town’s library where she held Saturday morning storytelling hour and assisted in maintaining the children’s book area.
This passion resulted in pre- and post-graduate degrees in library science. She enjoys bringing stories to life for children and watching their imaginations soar.
She has her own special black cat who provides inspiration for the Vine Street Mysteries series. Three books are currently available - who knows where her black cat will lead her as the series grows?
When you were a kid, did you adore the feel of a fresh hard backed Nancy Drew or Hardy Boys mystery? For me, as a kid, those books felt solid, and impressive to own. I bought the hard backed copy of this for gifting, but lol I have to buy another one so I can keep it in my own library. I'm into Y/A literature because I have a lot of young ones in my life, but also, frankly, for myself, I find the storytelling incredibly soothing. Something to transport me away from grown up worries of the day. This story evokes shades of Harriet the Spy, Harry Potter (Imagine if Hermione got her own series!) and the aforementioned Nancy Drew. Plus! It stars a cat! Please Ms. DuBois! I'd like to visit Ginni and her feline friend in another story!

"I received this book as a gift near the end of 2021 and purposefully saved it to read on Christmas morning. It was a fun read and such a sweet story. It reads quite easily and would be a great book for any child who is at the early chapter reading stage. Would also be a great book to read together as a family. If you're an animal lover and want to read a feel-good story, definitely grab this one!"

"I so enjoyed this story of the Pearl family and pets! I understand Book 2 will be released shortly. I will be one of the first to purchase it!! How will Neelia help the Pearl children solve the next mystery?"

The Kitten Who Scared a Ghost
With spring on its way, it must mean that it’s time for the fourth graders of Makawee Elementary to tackle their first real research project. Even though they know it’s coming, all the students dread the extra work - everyone, that is, except Ginni.
For most of the year, Ginni has been wondering if she will have the courage to complete her research project on Amelia Earhart, one of the first female pilots. Since her mom was a pilot and was killed flying an airplane, can she truly face delving into the world of female pilots?
And if that wasn’t enough to occupy her thoughts, the library has recently become haunted! Strange noises and howls are frequently heard, and no one can find the source of the wailing. But you know who is anxious to get up to the attic and do her own searching…why Neelia of course!
The strange happenings do not end there, however. Frankie finds footprints outside their picture window. Who has been spying on them? Is Stanley up to his old tricks?
Ginni can hardly keep up with the research project and two mysteries, when her day-to-day life comes abruptly to a halt.
Even with the help of Neelia, Mr. Whiskers, and Tyto, how will Ginni finish her project and solve the mysteries from a hospital bed?

The Kitten Who Kissed a Gnome
Finally...Spring has come to Makawee! And with spring comes warmer weather, green grass, budding flowers, and Food Trucks! There’s no better after-school treat than to walk downtown and get an order of Smilie Potatoes from a favorite vendor, Roger’s Roast Beef.
Spring also means planting a garden. At least it used to for Frankie and his mother. Another change of seasons means more first-time adjustments as Frankie and Ginni live through the first year without their mom. Ginni is at a loss for how to help Frankie move beyond this painful reminder of what they have lost. Neelia, their precious black kitten, has helped Frankie heal his grief ever since she was found outside in the snow last Christmas, but a kitten can’t plant a garden.
Ginni gets distracted, however, from the garden dilemma when Roger confides in them that he’s being robbed. Who would steal from a food truck? Especially when Roger, who looks like Santa, is the kindest guy around.
And if that wasn’t enough, Frankie receives more devastating bad news. Can nothing go right this spring?
It’s going to take the efforts of Ginni and their supersleuth pets (and a little bit of luck) to make things right this spring.
